“See the people walking down the street
Fall in line just watching all their feet
They don't know where they want to go
But they're walking in time”
- The Go-Gos
Issue 011 – We Got The Beat
I love the Go-Gos! Yup I said it. Fight me. I’ve loved them since I first heard them in 1980.
If you discovered them post 1980, you might miss out on the fact that they started as a punk band. Check out the original version of We Got The Beat. You might just like it better than the version they ultimately released, which became an entry in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame’s 500 Songs That Shaped Rock. By the way, that’s an amazing playlist. You’re welcome.
Every time I hear We Got The Beat I think of the beginning of Summer, and the opening scene of Fast Times At Ridgemont High.
Welcome to the beginning of Summer – and we have big news here at The Experience Advisors.
Bye Bye Monkey Business – We’re Stacking Up!!
Yes, you may notice something new with this version of The Experience. We’ve made a switch to this newsletter. We said goodbye to MailChimp – and joined the cool kids at Substack. So, what inspired this monumental move you might ask? Was it like switching morning coffee to tea? Or was it adopting a cat when you’re a self-proclaimed dog person?
No.
Pure and simple: we found a beat. We wanted to make it easier to create discussion, promote the community, and hopefully continue on our adventure to add value to your inbox and practice.
It has become clear that our Discord is NOT the place where we want the Experience Advisor Community to share ideas. And sharing ideas is the founding principle of the whole joint. Substack enables you to lurk, if you just want to lurk. But its commenting feature enables you to comment and discuss things relevant to a particular post/email we send. And, the new Chat feature enables us to start discussions and promote each others work.
Oh, and this is the part where I apologize for an email you may have received over the weekend inviting you to Chat. Total pilot error there.
Additionally, over time – it might just be a place where we can create premium level community events, and other types of get togethers.
The Experience (this newsletter) will increase in cadence to weekly, it will shorten up a bit, and continue to hopefully offer helpful, groovy things (as we’ve always intended) as well as some entertaining distractions. And, there’s a new referral program where you can refer new members to the Experience Advisor Community and get, you know, some stuff.
If you want to check it all out – just click on through to the new Home Page for The Experience.
We got the beat.
Groovy Stuff We’re Reading
As Fortune Cookies now lose their jobs to AI, writing has never mattered more.
Speaking of which, the reading app Matter as just launched a site called ReadingSomethingWonderful – which is a curated list of blogs, and other articles that have resonated with people. It’s really neat because it randomly throws you right into the mix. I have no idea what you’ll see when you click on that link.
Here at TCA, we’ve been writing a lot – and just released a new approach on a process to select marketing technology. We’ve also been working on an original research project looking at how Generative AI tools are being integrated into marketing departments. So far we’ve interviewed more than a dozen Generative AI tools, and more than 220 people have responded to our survey. One of the most interesting results thus far: 82% of businesses that have been using Generative AI in their marketing, do not have any kind of process, workflow or integration with other tools.
We got the beat.
We know you can dance to the beat
